This San Jose hallway had heavily hand-applied texture that felt dated and made the space feel closed in. We stripped the old texture down to a clean substrate, skim-coated every wall and ceiling to a smooth Level 4/5 finish, and sanded each pass to remove any trace of the original pattern. The result is a bright, modern hallway with crisp, paint-ready surfaces from wall to ceiling.
What was once a heavily-textured, dated hallway now reads clean and modern — smooth walls and ceiling, ready for a fresh coat of paint.

This vaulted living room had heavy texture on the angled ceiling and walls that dated the whole space. We skim-coated every surface to a smooth, modern finish, carefully following the angled ceiling lines, and left the room paint-ready throughout.
Outdated, uneven, or heavily textured surfaces can make an entire room feel dated. We remove or smooth existing texture, repair surface imperfections, and apply skim coats to create a clean Level 4 or Level 5 finish. When a full skim coat isn’t needed, we can match the existing texture to help repaired areas blend naturally with the surrounding walls or ceilings.
We identify the texture type and confirm the target finish level.
Existing texture is scraped or prepped for a full skim coat.
Skim coats are applied as needed to level the surface and create a smooth, consistent finish.
Each surface is carefully sanded to achieve smooth walls with crisp, clean lines.
Remaining imperfections are corrected and the surface is refined to achieve the selected Level 4 or Level 5 finish.
Checked under the room's real lighting, then finished with the final coat.
Most projects can be estimated from photos. When needed, we'll schedule an on-site walkthrough to confirm the scope.
You'll receive a realistic estimate with no hidden fees or surprise charges. If a site visit is needed, we'll schedule one before providing the final quote.
Once approved, we'll schedule your project and complete the drywall installation and finishing with the same crew—from the first sheet to the final walkthrough.
We follow the industry guidelines established in GA-214 (Gypsum Association) for Level 4 and Level 5 drywall finishes. Final surfaces are evaluated under normal lighting conditions after the compound has fully cured and the walls are ready for primer or paint.
Like all professional drywall contractors, we do not evaluate finishes using harsh side lighting, flashlights, or lights held directly against the wall. Extreme lighting can highlight minor surface variations that are not visible under normal everyday conditions and are not considered installation defects under industry standards.
If you have specific lighting conditions or premium finish requirements, we’re happy to discuss the appropriate finish level before work begins.
Most textures can be removed — heavier or older texture may need a full skim coat rather than a scrape, which we confirm at the walkthrough.
No — it’s a controlled process. Floors and adjacent surfaces are protected throughout, and the wall underneath is checked before we begin.
