Project overview

Interior painting for a newly built home in Willow Glen, San Jose — more than 2,800 sq ft plus the garage. The original paint job didn’t hold up: the walls had been finished only to Level 3–4 in places, and the imperfections showed right through the paint.

We skim coated and leveled the walls, then repainted every wall and ceiling in the house. Everything was sprayed with a commercial airless sprayer using Sherwin-Williams Emerald, with the kitchen, floors, windows and fixtures fully masked throughout.

Most interior painting problems start before the paint can is opened: cracks get caulked over, patches show through, and the new color flashes where a repair was never primed.

Because we are drywall finishers first, our interior painting starts with the wall itself. We repair damage, feather patches smooth, spot-prime every repair, then cut in by hand and spray or roll two finish coats. Floors and furniture are covered, and the space is cleaned up at the end of every day.

Yes — that’s where interior painting starts for us. As a drywall contractor, we repair cracks, dents, nail pops and bad patches first, so they don’t show through the new paint.

Do I need to move my furniture?

It depends on the project. For a room or two, furniture can usually stay — it’s moved away from the walls and covered. For a whole-house repaint, it often needs to go to the garage or a portable storage container for the duration, so every wall and ceiling can be reached and protected. We’ll plan this with you at the walkthrough, before the job is scheduled.

What paint do you use?

It depends on the project and the budget. We work with professional paint lines from Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore, and help you pick the right level:
