Venetian plaster—often known as Italian polished plaster—is a premium decorative finish that transforms ordinary walls and ceilings into architectural focal points. Our team carefully builds up ultra-thin layers of advanced lime- or acrylic-based plaster, hand-burnishing each coat with a steel trowel until it develops a smooth, marble-like surface with stunning depth and natural movement.
Because we stay on the cutting edge of modern interior finishes, we apply these advanced coatings directly over properly primed and skim-coated drywall. That means you get a high-end, timeless look without the dust and hassle of heavy demolition, as long as your existing surface is sound. Available in a wide range of tones—from soft, earthy neutrals to deep, custom-tinted colors—it’s the perfect way to bring modern luxury into your space.
Venetian plaster isn’t simply painted onto a wall. It’s a multi-step decorative finish built up in thin, hand-applied layers, and the quality of the final surface starts with what’s underneath. Existing drywall may require texture removal, repairs, or skim coating to create a smooth Level 5 surface, while new construction can be prepared to Level 5 from the start.
Once the substrate is ready, we apply the appropriate specialty primer or bonding coat, followed by multiple hand-troweled and burnished coats of Venetian plaster to build the desired depth, movement, and sheen. The surface is then completed with the appropriate protective sealer or wax. The exact application system and number of coats depend on the existing surface, selected finish, and project conditions, and are confirmed during the on-site estimate.
Existing walls are stripped, repaired, and skim-coated as needed, or new drywall is finished to Level 5 during construction.

Yes — but the wall has to be flat and smooth first. Venetian plaster is thin and polished, so it shows every bump, patch or texture underneath. If your walls have orange peel or knockdown texture, we start by skim coating them to a smooth Level 5 surface, then prime and apply the plaster. Prep is always the first step, and it is included in your estimate.
