Project overview

Trim painting for the same newly built home in Willow Glen, San Jose, as part of a whole-house repaint. About 30 interior doors — 60 door faces plus jambs — along with roughly 850 linear feet of door casing and more than 1,100 linear feet of baseboard: close to 2,000 linear feet of trim in total.

Every door and every run of trim was sanded and primed first, then sprayed with Sherwin-Williams Emerald enamel using a commercial airless sprayer, for a smooth, even finish with no brush marks. Floors, walls and hardware were protected the whole way through.

About Our Trim, Door & Baseboard Painting

Trim shows every shortcut: gaps along the wall, dents in the baseboard, drips on door panels, paint on the floor.

Good trim painting is detail work. We fill nail holes and dents, caulk the gaps where trim meets the wall, sand the old finish so the new coat grips, and prime bare or glossy spots. Doors are painted panel by panel for an even finish, and baseboards are cut in cleanly against walls and floors.

It is the step that separates a fresh paint job from a finished one — and it pairs naturally with painting the walls.
